Water quality is the most crucial element of a successful farm-raised shrimp operation, which is why Grand Shrimp is comprised of highly specialized water treatment engineers who drew from the best of the industrial / municipal water and wastewater treatment technologies to revolutionize aquaculture practice. Founder, Johan Perslow, a licensed professional engineer has dedicated his 50+ year career to water resource engineering and has highly specialized expertise in water/wastewater treatment, water recycling, hydraulics and sustainability. He is supported by additional specialized water engineers and successful business / financial managers that he has worked closely with over the course of his career.

While Grand Shrimp is a start-up entity, the management and operations are heavily supported by Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering, Inc. (PACE), a highly respected civil engineering firm that specializes solely in water resource engineering founded in 1987. During the start-up period of Grand Shrimp, PACE has performed business management oversight, invested in technology development and testing, design and design refinement and continues to support day-to-day operations. Other firms started by Johan Perslow including Pacific Aquascape International, a 40+ year design-build specialty water feature contractor that has been instrumental in developing design and construction standards, and PERC Water, a water infrastructure company that develops, designs, builds, operates and manages water infrastructure throughout the United States, has supported the development of modular, compact design and operations standards.

Cory Severson, PE

President

Cory Severson has more than 40 years of experience in the fields of civil engineering and construction and over 30 years of business leadership and financial management experience with specialized expertise in water systems. Mr. Severson’s wide range of engineering applications include lake, pond, fountain and water feature systems, site grading, drainage studies, flood-control routing, subdivision/public-works improvements, utility relocation/coordination, mechanical engineering for pumping systems, hydraulic design of storm channels and pipelines, as well as structural design in wood, masonry, concrete and steel.

Johan Perslow, PE

Primary Developer

Mr. Perslow has been the principal designer, consultant, and construction manager for more than 800 state-of-the-art water-resource projects including recycled water systems, marine life support systems, advanced wastewater treatment facilities, natural-based stormwater management and flood control systems, lake and pumping systems, and irrigation-optimization systems.

Andy Komor, MS, PE

Product Development & Installation Manager

Andy Komor is a technical expert on engineering infrastructure, having successfully performed engineering design, project management, and field services for over $600 million in capital on over 100 completed water resource projects in the past 15 years. His background as a researcher has led to several national presentations and technical papers. Mr. Komor is sought after as a technical consultant and designer on water resources projects, including water treatment, well design, storage tank and booster pump station design, groundwater recharge, advanced ocean and brackish water desalination, lake and reservoir water quality enhancements, wastewater treatment, and water recycling, and new technology research and development. As part of the design and engineering of such projects, Mr. Komor is adept at providing comprehensive civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls designs which are innovative, cost-effective, and highly-operable. He also has significant experience in field engineering, construction oversight and start-up services through design-build projects and design-bid-build project structures.

Jorge Tamayo

Sr. Project Manager

Mr. Tamayo has served in over 12 shrimp consultant/manager positions involving research and development and shrimp farm production, and has owned his own shrimp farming company since 2003. Some of Mr. Tamayo’s responsibilities include design, construction, oversight of maturation facilities, broodstock maintenance, “RAS” systems, and larviculture, giving him a well-rounded understanding of not only the industry as a whole but the technical aspects of the shrimp systems as well. Direct recent experience includes international technical support for animal health and genetics, R&D for a large-scale shrimp farm based out of Fountain Valley, CA, and the successful management of shrimp farm production without the use of seawater. Mr. Tamayo’s vast and abundant experience within these positions has provided him with the opportunity to employ a multitude of solution-based approaches to shrimp management and has solidified him as an expert within the industry.

Hugo Aguilar

Lead Operator

Hugo Mario Armijos Aguilar is an aquaculture expert with 35+ years of experience in Lithogenous Vannamel Shrimp farming. Hugo has served in management positions for a wide variety of companies dedicated to shrimp farming, nursing, and maturation in Ecuador and Panama. Hugo’s extensive experience in the field has given him the opportunity to employ a multitude of unique strategic production methods and shape overall operational planning to ensure successful practice.

Claudia Cardenas

Lead Operations Engineer

Claudia’s experience in the aquaculture operations began at a tilapia farm in Peru for a period of two years. She also has experience as lead operations manager at a frozen fish production company for export to the US, production line assessment, best management practices, and health & safety procedures. Claudia has a passion for the environment and protection of natural water resources.
