Water quality is the most crucial element of a successful farm-raised shrimp operation, which is why Grand Shrimp USA is comprised of highly specialized water treatment engineers who drew from the best of the industrial / municipal water and wastewater treatment technologies to revolutionize aquaculture practice. Founder, Johan Perslow, a licensed professional engineer has dedicated his 50+ year career to water resource engineering and has highly specialized expertise in water/wastewater treatment, water recycling, hydraulics and sustainability. He is supported by additional specialized water engineers and successful business / financial managers that he has worked closely with over the course of his career.
While Grand Shrimp USA is a start-up entity, the management and operations are heavily supported by Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering, Inc. (PACE), a highly respected civil engineering firm that specializes solely in water resource engineering founded in 1987. During the start-up period of Grand Shrimp USA, PACE has performed business management oversight, invested in technology development and testing, design and design refinement and continues to support day-to-day operations. Other firms started by Johan Perslow including Pacific Aquascape International, a 40+ year design-build specialty water feature contractor that has been instrumental in developing design and construction standards, and PERC Water, a water infrastructure company that develops, designs, builds, operates and manages water infrastructure throughout the United States, has supported the development of modular, compact design and operations standards.
Johan Perslow is a leading engineer in the water resources industry, businessman, and inventor. In over 50 years, Mr. Perslow has started up and established four successful water resource companies – Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering, Inc. (PACE), PERC Water, Pacific Aquascape International and H20 Investments. Clients look to Mr. Perslow to develop and implement concepts which are extremely creative and valuable, and he has a reputation in the market for delivering superior solutions to complex challenges. Mr. Perslow has been the principal designer, consultant, and construction manager for more than 800 state-of-the-art water-resource projects including recycled water systems, marine life support systems, advanced wastewater treatment facilities, natural-based stormwater management and flood control systems, lake and pumping systems, and irrigation-optimization systems.
With a lifetime of shrimp breeding, growth, and farming experience, Jorge Tamayo has served in over 12 shrimp consultant/manager positions involving research and development and shrimp farm production, and has owned his own shrimp farming company since 2003. Some of Mr. Tamayo’s responsibilities include design, construction, oversight of maturation facilities, broodstock maintenance, “RAS” systems, and larviculture, giving him a well-rounded understanding of not only the industry as a whole but the technical aspects of the shrimp systems as well. Direct recent experience includes international technical support for animal health and genetics, R&D for a large-scale shrimp farm based out of Fountain Valley, CA, and the successful management of shrimp farm production without the use of seawater. Mr. Tamayo’s vast and abundant experience within these positions has provided him with the opportunity to employ a multitude of solution-based approaches to shrimp management, and has solidified him as an expert within the industry.
